Chemistry , Demonstration , Explanation , Secondary
A year 10 pupil demonstrates and explains the splitting of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen.
Director's Notes:
Water is electrolysed — split into hydrogen and oxygen by passing an electric current through it. The hydrogen is bubbled into washing-up liquid, and the bubbles then ignited.
SciCast Notes:
Nice placement of a Planet Science poster in the background. Bonus points for that, I think.
Meanwhile — nice film. running two cameras at once is one of those things that can be technically tricky, but it works well here, allowing a new angle for the repeated shot.
The explanation’s nicely clear, too, though it’s a pity somebody else is talking over it.
A straightforward film, but there’s nothing wrong with that as long as it’s done well. And this is.
