Breakfast cereal is made to fly, with the aid of a Van de Graaf generator.

Director's Notes:

Team The Krispies write:

The experiment is from a horrible science book which used a plastic spoon to make rice krispies fly because of the static. We found it didn’t work very well so used a Van de Graaff and a metal spoon to make the rice krispies fly some more. The film is like a news report on strange scientific developments.

The music is from Jamendo.

SciCast Notes:

OK, so the camerawork is very shaky, and the big lump of explanation text is both hard to read and obscures the experiment. However, it’s still a very cool experiment. If I had a Van de Graaff around my house, I’d be trying it myself right now.

And don’t you just wish all news reports had middle Eastern/Russian crossover thrash rock soundtracks? Brilliant.
