The physics behind atmospheric pressure, and an explanation of the source of wind. Er… the other sort of wind.

Director's Notes:

Team The Air-Heads wrote:

This film explains what atmospheric pressure is and describes some ways that it affects the weather. Due to the time constraints, we could only squeeze in one short experiment to show that air has weight. We recorded the footage over two days (between exams!) using our school’s camcorder.

SciCast Notes:

I love the films we receive from the Republic of Ireland. They have a tendency to be entirely ridiculously nuts. This one, happily, absolutely follows the trend.

Favourite moments? The bloomers, the gratuitous exploding balloon (and reactions to it), and the rather good explanation of wind. I’m also impressed by the editing, which is very sharp indeed.

Shame about the very peaky sound, but otherwise: utterly excellent, and one of my personal favourites.
