The law of the lever, as explained in an American classroom. Sort of.

Director's Notes:

Our film explains the law of the lever, the applications of which are very numerous eg in the playground or back garden. Forgetting how the law applies has disastrous consequences for baby Shelby!

SciCast Notes:

This is nuts. And I think I mean that in a good way.

OK, it’s all a bit zoomy-zoomy wobbly on the camera, the voice-over is a bit shocking in volume when it comes in, and you have to pay quite a lot of attention to work out what’s going on.

However, it’s extremely well-planned. The voice-over fits nicely over the ‘blah-de-blah’ part of the scene, which suggests they were working to a very careful script. Also, the science is covered extremely succinctly, which is never easy to do. Finally, the setting, while entirely barking, fits the topic rather well.

Besides, who doesn’t like hearing the word ‘perpendicular’ delivered in a cod ‘deep South’ American accent, and how could anyone argue with the last line?

I like it. It’s crazy, but it just about works. What do you think?
