Single-shot demonstration of infra-red light igniting flash cotton.

Director's Notes:

Right at the beginning of SciCast, we did a test schools’ workshop in Dingwall, and an evening training session hosted by Glasgow Science Centre. This film was one of the results of the latter.

After a few dry-runs we managed to get the demonstration in just one take. The camerawork was very carefully planned — note that it moves to show you as much detail as you need, but the moves all make sense, the camera is never just waving around. Ruth, presenting, is also terrific: she’d presented this to live audiences dozens of times, and toned down her performance by just the right amount.

Terrific work from the GSC crowd, and still one of my favourite SciCast workshop films.
