Alkali metals, observational documentary-style.

Director's Notes:

We explain about alkali metals and demonstrate what happens when they come into contact with water.

SciCast Notes:

SciCast does Cinéma Vérité!

This gives every impression of being almost completely unplanned: set up the demonstrations, grab a camera, and with absolutely minimal preparation get on with it and see what happens. It works far better than it has any right to. OK, so it’s wobbly, and a bit rough in places, but I think it sort-of works.

It’s certainly not a polished SciCast film, but it has a charm and spontaneity that’s all too easy to leave out when you’re planning things carefully. I like it.
