A neat trick with lemons, water, and combustion
Director's Notes:
Team Parkside D write:
Combustion reactions
…which doesn’t tell us all that much, unfortunately. The team consisted of three year 8 students (ages 12-13) — and that’s all we know!
As ever, extreme care and supervision required to repeat experiments involving fire!
SciCast Notes:
The close-ups have gone a bit blurry with this film, which is a pity because they’re otherwise very carefully chosen, and very clear. Sometimes it’s frustrating when your equipment can’t quite keep up with you, but it’s not too distracting in this case. And the film is a good example of just how much you can do in short time if you start from a simple experiment. This film plays at its own pace, neither too fast nor too slow, and there’s still room for a word of explanation, credits, and even out-takes, with time to spare.
I’ve written some notes about the experiment in my comments on another version of it, so watch that one too. Interesting that the two films offer different explanations, no?
