An investigation of the lifting power of helium balloons

Director's Notes:

We investigated the density and lifting power of helium. We were inspired by a helium balloon, and lifted a 100-gram video camera using helium balloons, filming the ascent and the view from below. In our video we explain how the balloons managed to lift the camera and why a certain amount of balloons was needed.

SciCast Notes:

Wait — woah! You actually lifted a camera, with helium balloons? !!!

I’m very keen on this sort of stuff — you can see me pratting around on YouTube talking about kite aerial photography, and we’ve an early example of the results here on SciCast — but I’ve never heard of this done with helium balloons before. Great effort!

My only complaints are that I’d love to know more about the camera you used (only 100g? That’s tiny!), and see some more of the footage it recorded.

But great work, not an easy thing to do.
