Region:

A leaf blower, a toilet roll, and an unsuspecting teacher.

Director's Notes:

This is fun to try, but be careful — it’s easy to burn your hand as the toilet roll spins around. Make a handle out of cardboard as shown here, or (even better) use a little paint roller handle to hold the roll.

SciCast Notes:

This film was made in one of the early SciCast workshops, before we’d got our mitts on some tripods to help keep the cameras still. Can you tell?

If you look past the wobbles, however, the camerawork is extremely good — the shots around the wall are nicely judged. It’s a simple film, but executed well, and Mr. Fleming’s willingness to act the stooge helps make it fun.

The physics of what’s going on is surprisingly subtle, too. Great work!
