The physics, biology, and chemistry involved in lifting an apple. Yes, it really is a film about lifting an apple.

Director's Notes:

This movie, using green screen, takes a simple act — lifting an apple 1 metre — and describes this act using Physics, Chemistry and Biology. All sciences are linked as we try to describe our world. The movie was inspired by Isaac Newton and Eadweard Muybridge.

SciCast Notes:

Ooh, that’s the first use of the word ‘triptych’ in a SciCast film. My dictionary says:

triptych |ˈtrɪptɪk|, noun
A set of three associated artistic, literary, or musical works intended to be appreciated together.

So there you go. Lovely concept.

I only wish the text was a bit easier to read. I’ve un-squished the video as much as I can, but long lines of small text are always tricky. Sometimes it helps to add a bit of a drop shadow, particularly for light-coloured text — it stands out from the background more.

Great idea, though.
