The properties of magnets, and what’s going on inside them.

Director's Notes:

Our film is here to tell you why magnets are magnetic, how we magnetise and demagnetise things, plus what’s really going on inside a magnet. Not forgetting some cool stuff magnets can do, from ferrofluid to magnetic levitation!

SciCast Notes:

I love love love the model of domain orientation here. I’m not quite sure it’s going to catch on as a fitness regime, but there are more ridiculous ideas out there.

This is also a tremendously sophisticated film. It’s carefully-paced, well put-together, and while you might query some of the teams’ creative decisions (polite cough) you can’t say it’s not a personal effort.

So: informative, quick, quirky — everything a SciCast film should be, surely?
