A news report about bridges, with lots of notes.

Director's Notes:

We have been learning about the structure and support of Bridges recently and were asked to create a short film to showcase our learning. We wanted to use the camcorder this year for our movie because we have never used it before. We set up a news team which starts off by sharing general news, then the weather forecast and all of a sudden there is an important message sent to the presenter. The 18 Arches (Bridge) has collapsed and two of the reporters are live at the scene. We then have a scientist explain how bridges need support strong enough so that wind pressure does not collapse them.

We found the camcorder difficult to load onto the apple mac as there was other footage on the tape and we spent ages trying to download our own. Next time, we would hope to make more use of the tripod so that our camera work is steadier.

SciCast Notes:

Another excellent bit of thinking and writing from the gang at St. Joseph’s, telling us not only what they did but what they found challenging, and how they’d change it next time. Great stuff.

I understand this one a bit more, too. Which isn’t a requirement — I’m just the guy pushing the buttons behind the website — but it’s nice for me.

Favourite bits? I could point to the violent wind, but actually, it’s the ‘JTV’ banner on the front of the news desk. That must have taken hours to colour in, and it really adds atmosphere.
