A deceptively simple experiment to make glass invisible!

Director's Notes:

Team RG write:

A film about the refraction of light and the idea of how refractive index affects the amount of light refracted. We made use of the ‘Vanishing Glass’ experiment and recorded it using a video camera in our physics lab. We found out about the experiment from a science fair back in our old school.

SciCast Notes:

I love this! It’s a very simple film, and while it takes a minute or so to get going, the demonstration is superb. I haven’t seen it done for years, partly because it’s quite expensive to get hold of enough glycerine, and I’d forgotten how completely it works.

Great stuff.
