Atmospheric pressure crushing a can, demonstrated and explained.

Director's Notes:

The film-makers say:

Our experiment explains the theory behind an imploding can. It con contains steam and when cooled quickly, collapses.

SciCast Notes:

Oooooops! This film was actually submitted last year, the disc was lost in the post, emails bounced, yadda yadda yadda — so, here’s what Yuhao and Colin looked like a bit over a year ago. Ahem. Oops. Sorry, chaps.

Good film, anyway. Clear, fun, obvious relish in the way they enjoy the experiment, and so on. I’m not sure the model with the plastic bag is entirely clear, but big credit for coming up with something original. That’s the hardest thing, and they’ve made a big effort here.

I like!
