A news report from the Greenock Space Programme.
Director's Notes:
The class had been investigating the Solar system as part of their class topic and we ran an engineering club alongside this. We decide to look at how things fly which seemed like a natural progression. To involve more children and to make the film more interesting, we decided to make it into a news report. The experiment itself is a basic rocket kit, fuelled with water and compressed air and as more air is added the less room there is for the water. As a result the water shoots out and the rocket (in this instance is a 2L plastic bottle) shoots up into the air with, in some trials, dramatic effect.
SciCast Notes:
I love this!
Terrific, confident performances; excellent costume work (look for the floor-length labcoat in the background, particularly); obvious excitement; total disregard for the mithering rain. I’m particularly fond of the line “Is this ideal launching conditions?”, when it’s clearly chucking it down.
Wonderful.
