Shove sharp sticks through a bag full of water? Surely not!

Director's Notes:

A great trick that works much more reliably than you’d think - the part that took the longest time was working out how to get the slamming door in. After that… how to finish the film? There’s a bag of water dangling over a head, so somebody getting wet is required - but who? And how?

Watch the film to see. Then grab some freezer bags and kebab sticks, and try this for yourself.

SciCast Notes:

Apart from the brilliantly clear close-ups, I like this film because making it threw up another of those classic moments that happens when you’re hard against a deadline, out of ideas, and not quite finished. How to end the film? Who gets wet? How?

There was lots of staring at walls, out of windows, and down at the floor.

Eventually, somebody piped up with an idea. We’d all been thinking the same thing, we were just too nervous to say it because it sounded too simple to be clever. And as it turned out, the real genius wasn’t in the idea anyway - it was in the look of shock on the face of a splashee who, obviously, knew what was going to happen. Great performance.

Sometimes the simple ideas are the good ones. The trick is recognising them when they’re in front of you.
